ABOUT JORĖ JANAVIČIŪTĖ
Jorė Janavičiūtė has a BA in Journalism from Vilnius University (2014), completed a Film Production course at the European Film College in Denmark (2015), and holds an MA in Film Directing from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (2018). She has made a number of short films. Her short film “Where Things, Where People Disappear” (2017) has been screened in almost twenty festivals around Europe and won the Silver Screen award “Young Director Award” in the Film School (Europe) category in 2018 in Cannes, France, as well as the Best Fiction Film prize in BEAST IFF 2019 in Porto, Portugal. Her short documentary, “<3 / Less Than Three” (2019), had its international premiere at the Ji.hlava IDFF 2019. “Parking Lot” (2021) was also screened in a number of festivals, including Palm Springs International Shortfest, HollyShorts in the U.S., “FEST - New Directors | New Films Festival” in Portugal, etc. The newest short “How To Be A Human Being” premiered at Vilnius International Film Festival in 2023 and is now travelling in film festivals, has been screened at Bengaluru International Short Film Festival, Riga IFF, Vilnius Short Film Festival, “FEST - New Directors | New Films Festival”, Reykjavík International Film Festival, etc. Jorė was also working as a lecturer at Vilnius University from 2020 to 2025. Currently, she is developing a debut feature film project, writing articles for Lithuanian media, and working in casting for film, TV, and commercial productions, as well as directing commercials.
